Behaviours for Learning

Behaviours for Learning

A learning behaviour can be thought of as a behaviour that is necessary in order for a person to learn effectively in the group setting of the classroom (Ellis and Todd, 2018).

To maximise the impact of teaching we want to ensure that children have the skills and behavior to learn. At Henley In Arden, we have aligned our learning behaviours with the behaviour and learning conceptual framework:

Relationship with Self: Never Give Up

Relationship with curriculum: Ready to Learn

Relationship with other: Learning Community

Together these will embody : Excellence

We recognise how each learning behavior is lived by the children, the staff, as well as the families. Our Christian values, which are at the heart of our school culture, also align with our strategy which is represented on the Cross. The footsteps remind us of Jesus’ guidance in supporting us on each step of the way through our school journey.

Excellence

Children: We want to be the best we can be in all that we do to live a life of fullness.

Staff: We have high expectation of our teaching, learning and school building. We want to be the best practitioner we can. We want the best environment for our children to learn.

Families: We want the best for our children both at school and at home. We support our children with home learning.

Never Give Up

Children: Even when it is difficult we never give up and keep trying.

Staff: Even when our day is difficult due to challenging children or difficult experiences, we persevere and keep going. We support each other to keep going.

Families: We will work with school to ensure we have the right support.

Learning Community

Children: We work together and learn from each other as well as from adults

Staff: We learn from each other as well as from children

Family: We are a learning community who appreciate each other and work together to support the children of our school.

Ready to Learn

Children: We listen to each other, we are organised and follow instructions.

Staff: We use the latest pedagogy to further develop our practice. We are thoroughly prepared to continually improve the curriculum for our children.

Families: We want our children to look smart and arrive at school on time.
