Knowledge Organisers
The Importance of Knowledge Organisers
At our school, we use Knowledge Organisers to support children in their learning both in the classroom and at home. A knowledge organiser is a simple, clear document that sets out the key facts, vocabulary, and concepts that pupils will be learning in a subject or topic. They act as a “go-to guide” for essential knowledge, helping children to review and recall important information with confidence.
For parents, knowledge organisers can provide a window into the curriculum, making it easier to understand what children are learning in school and how to support them at home. They are especially useful for quick revision, checking understanding, and building strong foundations for future learning. By working with their knowledge organiser regularly, children can strengthen their memory, grow in confidence, and make stronger connections across different areas of the curriculum.
At home, even a few minutes spent revisiting the organiser can make a big difference. Whether it’s practising key vocabulary, quizzing each other on facts, or discussing ideas together, these small steps can help children feel more secure in their learning and more prepared for lessons in school.
