Explorer Dome visits Henley

On Monday 15th May, the children at Henley in Arden Primary school had an ‘out of this world’ experience.

They were visited by ‘Explorer Dome,’ an inflatable 3.5 metre planetarium. Once they had crawled inside the vast, igloo-like structure each class had an amazing 45 minute Science presentation about ‘Space’ or ‘Light’. Years 1, 2, 4 and 5 looked at extraordinary close-up photographs of the planets in our Solar System, as well as superb footage of the Sun.

They also watched intently as the night sky was projected onto the pitch black ceiling. Star-gazing without a cloud to spoil the view! In the afternoon, it was Reception and Years 3 and 6’s turn to study the wonder of ‘Light.’

A truly memorable experience was had by staff and pupils alike.
