In 2014 money raised by the PTA was used to help build our new Envirozone, an outdoor learning zone covered with giant sails, natural planting, willow archway and bug hotels for the children to explore. The Envirozone helps take lessons outdoors , enabling the children to learn more about nature, the environment and how it changes throughout the seasons.
The beauty of teaching outdoors is that the children often do not perceive it as ‘learning’ and yet they learn some of their most valuable lessons there. The lack of walls means that they feel less inhibited – both physically and mentally .
The children in Little Acorns Nursery started Forest School in January 2017.
We would like to say a big thank you to the PTA for providing us with our waterproof clothing.
The children dressed up warm in water proof clothes and wellies. Then they slipped and squelched through the mud on the way to base camp.
They listened carefully as they were shown how to use spades and trowels safely.
They rescued worms as they began to construct their mud island.
After all their hard work they enjoyed breaking for hot chocolate and biscuit.
